Introduction

Coming soon I will seek to expose those who are unfairly trading dishonestly or at least not telling the whole truth about their source of fish. I will also be asking trading standards what they are going to do about it as it is unfair to those who are honest about where their fish comes from.

As part of my development of the Coast Friendly idea, I have been asking local people, fishermen and fishmongers for their opinion about this issue and it is very clear that members of the public are having the wool pulled over their eyes by quite a few fish traders, including those at some farmers markets. If we really want to support locally caught fish that is truly sustainable, then we must at least know where it comes from otherwise we cannot make informed choices.
